A little over a year ago Time magazine published an articled entitled “The War Against Beer Pong” after video game designer JV Games had decided to make a beer pong video game for the Wii. After complaints from numerous anti-fun politicians and over concerned parents JV Games decided to rename the game “Pong Toss” and fill the cups with water instead of beer.
Now, we here at Skip's don’t promote binge drinking even though we like to talk about having a good time. In fact, we support the idea of using water as an alternative to beer because sometimes you don’t want to be drinking out of the same cups as the guy with the cold sores on his lips or maybe you’re playing in your prude girlfriend’s living room and she’ll flip out if you spill beer on her oriental rugs. When you play with water, no one says you have to drink the water in the cups. However, Dartmouth decided to ban “Water Pong” because they were concerned with hyponatremia, otherwise known as water intoxication.
The University of Pennsylvania, Yale University, the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and Tufts University have banned drinking games. Georgetown University has gone so far to ban beer pong, specially made beer pong tables, and inordinate numbers of ping pong balls and any other alcohol related paraphernalia in its on-campus dorms. So, we here at Skip's Garage ask you to join the resistance and help end the war against beer pong. Fight for every future student that will learn more about life from a crazy college road trip than they will from a boring philosophy class. Even when Skip’s Garage is on vacation, we are really not. Having a job that consists of the evolution of beer pong and the perfection of partying applies to every facet of life. Maybe we’re just caught up on the idea of being able to bring a portable beer pong table on the Monorail cross country from Zurich to Paris or from Munich to Milan. The idea of drinking beer is already associated with pretty much every sport across the globe. You have Lowenbrau with Soccer in Germany or Red Stripe in Jamaica. There’s baseball and football, and then there’s bud light cans in the hands of fans. There’s even a British guy flipping back and forth between the BBC news and a game of cricket with a cold Beck’s in his hand. One thing that I realized while being overseas is that people are very creative and imaginative when it comes to thinking of reasons to drink. As you all may know, Skip's Garage recently returned from a weekend of debauchery in Atlantic City. Representatives traveled down to New Jersey in mid June for the World Pong Tour's $25,000 Beer Pong Tournament. Hundreds of teams from all around the country showed up to fight for the ultimate prize of $25,000 in cold hard cash. Our main incentive was to advertise and promote but who's to say we couldn't have a little fun as well...The tournament went great and we got some great pictures to show for it! We also had an incredible time partying and gambling all night long...the way a weekend in Atlantic City should be. We even ended up selling a few of our floating beer pong tables for the pool by portOpong. All in all it was a great weekend and we cannot wait to help out the World Pong Tour again and sponsor many of their upcoming events. Well I just booked my return trip back to Switzerland in mid-July, and I thought I would bring the Skip’s Garage team with me. Because I like to pack light and US Customs can be nuts, I’m going to bring a PortOpong or Poolside pong table with me to enjoy. Although I truly love our folding beer pong tables and custom design tables, you have to love these portable beer pong tables for travel…seriously! This trip is more R&R from the stress of work and a need for a change of scenery. However, I have a ton of friends and family in Switzerland, and I plan to show them these fun games and products. Here’s a debate of the age old question that has been asked across generations from the most experienced drinker to the college freshman drinking Keystone and Dubra for the first time and throwing them up in a toilet shortly after. Is it better to drink beer or liquor? As an avid drinker and party enthusiast, I must say that liquor is a great choice if you’re looking for a quick fix. The ladies love fruity drinks and any one can get access to their parent’s liquor cabinet. However, I think I’m going to have to go with beer on this one. I only say this for one main reason: BEER PONG! You can casually drink beer all day and night without worrying about a huge hangover in the morning. It was a fantastic tournament, and it’s amazing to see how much talent, skill, and pure luck is needed to compete in this ridiculous tournament. Smashing Time was the big winner of the AC World Pong Championship. They were also the winner of the World Series of Beer Pong in Las Vegas in January created by BPong. As you can see they are obviously the Kings of Beer Pong. They beat PongTracker.com in the final round and went through multiple teams to climb to the top. According to Smashing Time, they play about four to five tournaments a week. They have plenty of practice and experience and the money and titles to back them up. What’s a big tournament without an after party? DJ Whoo Kid was courteous enough to grace us with his presence and even play a few games of beer pong. The dancing and drinking continued at the 40/40 club in one of their Hall of Fame rooms. Just remember what happens in Atlantic City stays in Atlantic City kids. We are happy to announce two new beer pong tables to our inventory. We have recently acquired an American flag beer pong table from ProPong and also a pink beer pong table from ProPong. Both tables are brand new additions to the ProPong line of beer pong tables and look to be as solid as the rest of them. All of these new designs as well as any table currently out of stock will be back by June 1, 2009.
The $25,000 regional beer pong tournament and UConn spring weekend were a success. Luciano Diaz and Jeff Matlin took home the big win and received a free trip to Atlantic City as well as free entry into the $25,000 tournament and free beer for the entire tournament from June 11-13, 2009. Diaz and Matlin had some tough competition but were able to prevail by beating Mike Sapienza and Geoff Currie in the final game. Diaz and Matlin looked strong but will definitely have to bring their "A" games to the World Pong Tour's championship in Atlantic City. On another note, we were able to advertise our folding beer pong tables and portable beer pong tables quite easily throughout the weekend by traveling around and promoting all throughout the UConn area. We got a great response from everyone we came into contact with and we were able to sell quite a few of our floating beer pong tables for the pool. All in all we had a great weekend and can't wait to do it again.
We will soon have a whole new line of beer pong tables added to our already stacked inventory. We deal with multiple companies that manufacture and distribute these folding beer pong tables all around the country and are constantly coming out with new designs to spice up their products. Currently, we have received new beer pong table designs from BJ's in Boulder, CO, EZ Pong in CA, and ProPong in NY. These new pong tables will be a great addition to our site and we are sure they will sell like crazy! We have received from BJ's, a new mary jane beer pong table, a king of pong beer pong table from, a couple new football and baseball pong tables, and a design your own custom beer pong table. We have also received from EZ Pong, a weed leaf beer pong table and a design your own custom pong table. We have also recieved the design for a custom beer pong table from ProPong. All of these tables will be in stock within the next few weeks so order now to get in line!

The World Beer Pong Tour is hosting the Atlantic City Beer Pong Championship from Thursday June 11, 2009 to Saturday June 13, 2009 in Atlantic City, NJ. This will be the biggest beer pong tournament the east coast has even seen with 3 nights on the boardwalk and complete beer pong madness. There will be a $25,000 cash prize for the winning team as well as smaller cash prizes (TBA) for the top 5 teams and other additional prizes for the top 10 teams. To qualify, your team must win one of the upcoming regional qualifier tournaments which will happen before the end of May. Currently, the only way to enter the tournament is to enter one of the regional qualifiers and win. Unfortunately, Skip's Garage's trip to Panama City Beach, FL is over and it is now back to work in cold CT. The trip went exceptionally well with the sales of multiple floating beer pong tables and a few folding beer pong tables as well. We made a ton of valuable business connections and met some amazing people down there who gave us a lot of insight about the website. We continuously walked the beaches handing out fliers and business cards to try and spread the word. We also got rid of ton of stickers and met a few locals who will be helping us out with future promotions. We encourage anyone and everyone to vacation to Panama City Beach as it was one of the most amazing places we have ever been. The beaches, ocean, restaurants and nightlife all made it one incredible trip. We are currently working on uploading all of the pictures to SkipsBeerPong.com and to Google's Picasa Web so that we can share our experiences with everyone!
